I can't say I've always known what I wanted to do with my life but I have always known the type of life I wanted to live. I don't want to be confined to the limits of a superior or the limits anyone may put on me. I’d love to be my on boss and create. I want more, I just know it and can feel that I am more than a job where I am controlled and can't grow or be what I am meant to be. I have interests in owning a business and what it takes to own one. The best way to learn about that is to interview someone who has an impactful and strong business so I reached out to Gina Luari to learn more about her business
Gina is an experienced manager with a track record of success in the restaurant industry. Nonprofit organizations, budgeting, Microsoft Word, advertising, and event management are among her specialties. With a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Central Connecticut State University, she is a strong professional.
I came into this interview ready to ask her a list of questions I prepared but after the first question all of my preparation went out of the window, we just communicated. There are some key takeaways that I have from our conversation. I learned that for her the number one thing to having a successful business is to simply start. When you over-plan and overthink an idea that thought just dies and never becomes an action. Whether you fail or not there is growth to be made and knowledge to me consumed through simply starting. No matter the result. The second biggest takeaway I had is her vision of constant growth. While it is great to see all of the amazing progress you've made, the most important part of growing and not only being successful within your business but with your life as a whole is focusing on the 10%. While you may be absolutely perfect at 90% of the things you do there still is that tine 10% of improvement. You can always change, grow, and improve. My last take away from the many, many things I learned talking to Gina is, why not me? She told me that she had a vision and told herself, why not me? In other words if someone else can create their vision of a multi-million dollar company or restaurant chain then why can't I? Never limit yourself and your mind, there are limitless possibilities in today's day and age. Just take action, we have to start somewhere of course but so did those other companies, so why not you?
Coming into this interview I knew I'd learn tons of things. My job was just to soak it up like a sponge. I learned the mental aspect of starting a business, the education needed or not needed, and the logistics of running a successful business. Personally I don't know what I want to do for the rest of my life but I do know Gina showed me there are no limits because if someone who has been in similar situations as me can create so much then why can't I. Before this interview I knew I wanted to be my own boss and create things for other people I just didn't know what I needed to be able to accomplish that or how to start accomplishing that. This was such an eye opening experience into the business world and how open and reachable it really is with the right steps and tools. I'm excited to see where this field takes me and can't thank Gina enough for opening my eyes on the possibilities within the business world especially with just a little push.
